Week One: Rain Tree Removal at Ingham Showgrounds | LSF Tree lopping and vegetation services

Donna Sep 4, 2025

At LSF Tree & Vegetation Services, week one at the Ingham Showgrounds marked the beginning of a major project — the safe removal of four very large rain trees, some towering over 100 feet tall. This large-scale tree removal required careful planning, specialist equipment, and skilled teamwork to ensure the work was carried out safely and efficiently.

Respect for Nature and Community

Rain trees are iconic to North Queensland, and we respect their importance in the landscape. However, for safety and development at the showgrounds, their removal was necessary. Our crew ensured all material was responsibly disposed of, with some of the timber repurposed to give the trees a second life.

Careful Planning and Safety First

The Ingham Showgrounds is surrounded by walkways, buildings, and power box, making safety our top priority. Every step was carefully mapped out to protect the public, infrastructure, and our team. Our local experience in professional tree services meant we could carry out the work efficiently while maintaining strict safety standards.

Specialist Equipment in Action

Week one saw the use of a crane to carefully section massive branches and trunks, alongside a 14-ton excavator to handle stump removal, lifting, and site clean-up. Our climbers and ground crew worked seamlessly to ensure the project ran smoothly.

Professional Results from Week One

By the end of week one, all four rain trees were safely removed without incident. Two stumps were fully excavated and ready for backfilled with gravel in week two, while the remaining two were ground down to prevent regrowth. The area was left stable, safe, and ready for the Ingham rodeo.

Supporting the Ingham Community

We’re grateful for the hospitality of the Ingham community. Our team supported local businesses, staying at the Lees Hotel, dining in local restaurants, and sourcing from businesses like Jaycat Earthworks quarry, local truck hire, and fuel suppliers. At LSF, we’re proud to invest back into the regions where we work.

A Strong Start

Week one of the Ingham Showgrounds project demonstrates how large-scale tree removal can be managed with safety, respect, and professionalism. We look forward to continuing this project and keeping the showgrounds safe and accessible for the community.
